Call Simulator Permissions Guide

Android restricts background launch, overlay display and lock-screen behavior. These settings help scheduled simulated calls work more reliably.

Overlay permission

  • Allows the simulated call screen to appear above other apps.
  • Required by many Android devices for call-style display.
  • Can be disabled later in Android system settings.

Lock screen and background launch

  • Helps the simulated incoming call appear when the phone is locked.
  • Manufacturer-specific settings may be required on Xiaomi, Huawei, OPPO, vivo and Samsung devices.
  • Auto-start settings can improve scheduled call reliability.

Battery optimization

Strict battery management may stop timed calls from triggering. Allowing background activity helps countdown and scheduled features run reliably.

Grant only what the feature needs

  • Overlay: needed when a call-style screen must appear above another app.
  • Lock-screen display: needed only for simulations intended to appear while the phone is locked.
  • Background activity or auto-start: relevant to delayed simulations.
  • Notifications and sound: used for alerts, ringtone and status messages.

You can review or revoke these permissions later in Android system settings.

Manufacturer setting names vary

Android vendors use different labels for similar controls. Look for settings such as “Display over other apps,” “Appear on top,” “Lock-screen display,” “Auto-start,” “Background activity,” “App launch” or “Battery optimization.”

Only change the settings needed for your test, then repeat a short one-minute simulation.

Permission troubleshooting order

  1. Confirm the app can open a simulation while it is already on screen.
  2. Test a one-minute countdown with the phone unlocked.
  3. Test again from the home screen.
  4. Test once more with the device locked.
  5. Change only the permission related to the step that failed.

Privacy and control

  • The simulation is local and does not place a live call to the displayed number.
  • Use fictional or consented identities in every test.
  • Revoke overlay or background permissions if you no longer use delayed simulations.
  • Do not grant unrelated permissions requested by unofficial APK copies.

Common questions

Why did a timed call stop after a system update?

Android or the device manufacturer may reset background or battery rules. Review the app settings and repeat the short test.

Must every permission stay enabled?

No. Keep only the permissions required for the features you actively use.

Where should I start?

Use the complete user guide, then return here only if a specific background or lock-screen step fails.
